Last year, Maria started playing soccer through the city of W. St. Paul and she wanted to play again this summer. It worked out for her to play (during the day) since I was home on maternity leave for a majority of the session. I was talking to one of the coaching assistants, Nicki, and she said she remembered Maria from last year and that she was a lot more outgoing and 'aggressive' this year. I told her kindergarten did her good! They always started practice off with color tag - where either Coach Rainbow or one of the assistants starts off in the middle of the field and all of the kids line up on one side. A color is then called and if you are wearing that color, you have to try and make it to the other side of the field without getting caught. There was one time when Maria was the last kid to get caught - she was pretty proud. Coach Rainbow commented that she's a fast runner. She must get that from Daddy - mommy's all about the slow and steady :) Here are a some of the photos that I took:

Bella & Maria made some new friends this summer - Leo (in the yellow), Simon (in the blue) and Ollie. A couple of times after soccer practice we met up with them at Southview Park to watch the Summer Playhouse show. The show was put on by four kids - usually two girls and two boys. They would do skits, sing, perform magic and other fun things and would ask the kids in the audience to participate. The first time we went, I brought lunch and we sat and had a picnic while watching the show. The girls loved it! They also loved playing with the boys at the park afterwards!
